General Information

Facilities
The Studio School’s building at 117 West 95 Street features a modern library, science laboratory, gymnasium and theatre, sky-lit art room with a kiln for ceramics, and a sunny outdoor yard.  The fully-equipped kitchen complements the School’s innovative Kitchen Science program where each day a small, mixed-age group of children learns about and helps to prepare a delicious and healthy lunch for the school community.

The Studio School uses cross-age groupings rather than age-based grades or levels, starting with the Threes and Fours class.

Snack and Lunch
A delicious, healthy, and homemade school lunch is served to students every day in the Early Childhood, Elementary School, and Middle School Programs.  Nutritious snacks are served to children in the Toddler, Early Childhood, and Elementary School Programs.

Summer Camp
The Studio School Summer Camp program, Morning Fun, Discovery Days, and City Adventures, is open to children ages two through ten in June and July, for an additional fee. 

Financial Aid

The Studio School is committed to attracting and admitting an economically diverse student body.          Financial Aid is offered to families with children applying to kindergarten and above, based on financial  need and availability of funds.  Twenty percent of the student body receives financial assistance.

Afterschool Program and Classes
Clubhouse, an informal, family-style, extended day program for children ages 5 and up, is available each day  from 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., as well as Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Formal enrichment classes, called Explorations, are offered for children ages 3 and up.  Additional fees apply.

Transportation

The closest subway stops are the 1, 2, and 3 lines at 96th Street and Broadway, and the B and C lines at 96th Street and Central Park West.  The nearest bus lines are the M104 on Broadway, the M7 and M11 lines that operate on Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues, and the crosstown M96 stop at 96 Street and Columbus Avenue.  Elementary and Middle School students who meet  minimum age and distance requirements are eligible for Student Metrocards.
